SERIES: SWIMMING WITH SAFFRON<\/h3>\n

I have always loved the brilliant of yellow fields where I live in Kent, brushing the landscape with oceans of vivid colour. It lifts my heart and soul. <\/span><\/p>\n

I imagined swimming through them, which in 2007 triggered a impromptu photoshoot. I was inspired by the look and feel of the Busby Berkeley films in Technicolor, so I took some colourful 1950’s bikini, tops and caps and on a warmish day went out with a friend and my camera. In the famous film ‘The Gang’s All Here’ the girls wore fruit hats, back in the studio, I swapped fruit for oversized flowers from my photograpy collection, of which I have a lot!<\/em> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the sky turns to midnight blue the stars catch the light like diamonds. Anemone dances through the yellow waves wearing a mermaid’s scales shimmering top.<\/p>\n

The inspiration for this painting came from a scene in the Busby Berkeley film “The Gang’s All Here”,\u00a0dozens of scantily clad women handling very large bananas dance in sequence. I owned this long yellow coat and took it just in case of inclement weather. Arching back at a jaunty angle, made the composition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The inspiration for this painting is based on the pose of the Rolls Royce “Spirit of Ecstasy” figurine and my love of diving. I’ve always been drawn to the water and as a child used to go to a swimming club, which led to diving lessons.<\/span><\/p>\n
