Inspired by a love of nature and the joy of painting areas with a looser brush. To Dream is a series of quartered abstract landscapes. Each has a uniting central theme that the viewer is invited to explore and interpret.
“A Dutch Bouquet”

Completely transfixed by the Dutch Master’s paintings of bouquets of flowers and fruit with hidden insects, I wanted to create a contemporary depiction of an old art form.

“A Polar Dream”

North Pole meets South Pole. Arctic Fox, Narwhal, Polar Bear and Reindeer at the top. Emperor Penguin and Seal at the icy bottom. The Arctic Turn soars across both poles. A subliminal cross gives hope in that their ever decreasing landscape is protected.

Where beauty and the underworld intersect. A red rose is the symbol of courage, love and power. A Raven caws his message to the darkside whilst a hummingbird drinks the nectar of the Gods. A ladybird with its colour and promise of good fortune sits peacefully with the bumble bee, Melissa who flys to meet her tragic destiny.

Wings of the Eyed Hawkmoth, Elephant Hawkmoth, Large Emerald and in the centre, Death’s-Head Hawkmoth cross the dusky landscape. A fond childhood memory from breeding moths in my bedroom and showing that they are just as stunning as butterflies.
